Koltherian Spines 101Okay so I wanted to point out what is and what is not acceptable to use for your Koltherian's spines. There are a lot out there who are good at following these guidelines but some people miss the concept and I really want to clarify.
SPINES on a Koltherian and flexible pieces of cartilage that anchors to the bones/muscles with smaller muscles, allowing them to be flexed. Spines typically lay flat against the body, but can be flexed to stand upright, or keel depending on the type of spine. These spines generally come in four different styles (these are the styles you can use):
These are your medium to long, straight spines. Standard spines may have subtle variations in length and thickness, but will always retain the same long tapered shape. Note that NO spines should ever be as long or longer than what is found on Rifle:

The Stripes of the HototoStripe Types
There are currently 6 kinds of stripes which is acceptable on both light and heavy
type Hototo's and each marking and each shape give the Hototo it's uniqueness.
Here you can find which shapes are allowed, and how to breed a particular desired shape.
You will find the possible combinations of patterns down below and you will be able to
calculate the outcome of a potential breeding. Good Luck.
The Original stripes are straight and reminds of those of a Zebra or tiger. The stripes
follows the shape of the Hototo's body, and is mainly "growing downwards", meaning
the point (more narrow part of the stripes) is facing down. This is the most common type
of stripe hence the name Original stripe.

INFO: [Koltherian Mutations]Koltherian Mutations
Spines can be found on 90% of all Koltherians. Though the size and shape of the spines varies between individual; as well as the position of the spines, they are all generally the same. Spines are flexible pieces of cartilage underneath the skin; which anchors to bones and muscles with small muscles. Spines normally lay flat against the skin, but can stand erect (upright) if the muscles are flexed. Think of spines much like the fin on a fish's back. There are basic, skinny spines, thicker, less flexible spines, and flat, plate-like spines. this gene is always passed down if it is present on one or both of the parents.
This mutation renders the face less pronounced than other Koltherians. The chin is much smaller, and the nose does not stick out as far. This mutation is called Plain Face because compared to the species anatomy is quite dull a
